The Howler

Peer Leadership Wins Second Place

During the month of October the Peer Leadership class participated in the Teen Safe Driving Campaign, sponsored by the Allstate Foundation and the Safety Center. The students from Peer Leadership dedicated a lot of time and effort into this campaign, hopeful to make a difference and qualify for a prize for their efforts. These efforts included making posters advocating for safe driving and putting them around campus, along with making a video PSA about safe driving. The hard work and efforts of the Peer Leadership class paid off with a second place win of $750, which they plan to use on reimbursement and future projects. I had the pleasure of sitting down with the President of Peer Leadership, T.C. Stefani, who gave me some insight on what the Peer Leadership class had planned for the future. Peer Leadership hopes to make more of an impact on our CHHS campus with their next passion project being a clean campus. The Peer Leadership class is currently working to help make the CHHS campus cleaner by encouraging students to not litter. This project is not for another competition, but is something more personal and prideful. Preserving the ecosystem of our school is important to uphold our prestigious reputation around the district. Mrs. Reyes was very proud of the class, and exclaimed how it was very empowering and motivating to win 2nd place. She really enjoys her job as a Peer Leadership teacher because “it is a great opportunity to be active on campus.”
