Varsity Basketball has continued their streak from last year, defeating big schools Orange Lutheran and Rancho Verde High school. The Varsity Basketball team hasn’t lost a step from last year. Classmates who go and watch, as well as lower levels of basketball like JV and freshmen levels, sing praise for the team’s success. But, the real praise comes from head coach Mr. Latimore. As we know, Coach Latimore helped lead last year’s team to a State Championship and looks to do the same this year. He spoke highly of Onyeka Okongwu (Big O) “Big O has thrived in his starting role at center since his junior year and has kept this team glued together for the past 2 years I’ve been here,” Coach Latimore has said. He also has spoken highly about Anthony Bell, Will Pluma and Quan Davis along with others. They also plan on staying “strategic and working harder than everyone else.” “The game is won before the game even starts. It is won in practice through growth and grit.” So far Big O has averaged 26 points a game Chino Hills, despite the loss of all the Ball family, has still been able to put together a Championship through hard work and determination. It Is very exciting to see what this talented team lead by Coach Latimore and Big O can do this CIF playoff season. Go Huskies!
