Ojiya: The Best Sushi at Chino Hills

Busy, simple sushi and authentic Japanese cuisine spot nestled alongside busy restaurants and stores, Ojiya offers a classic collection of Japanese favorites, great for a delicious lunch or dinner.

Ojiya is well hidden within the bustling Chaparral bowling plaza. The small storefront bears a misleading red sign that says “SUHI: Japanese Cuisine”, however, when you reach the front doors, you will find white bold Japanese lettering proudly describing “Best Sushi in town” “Japanese Ojiya” neatly on the glass. 

As the best sushi restaurant in Chino Hills, it can be difficult sometimes to grab a seat. There are different lunch and dinner times for weekdays and weekends. On weekdays, the lunchtimes range from 11:30-2 PM and dinner time from 5-9:30 PM. On weekends, 12-2 PM and dinner time from 5-9:30 PM. Typically, if you want to get a seat right away, you must arrive right before it opens. If not arrived right after the store opening, you may be caught in the long wait list that could range from around 30 minutes to an hour.

Walking inside, transported me to a lavish Japanese restaurant layout. And despite the limited amount of seating, I was awed by how roomy the restaurant felt. 

Every single dish on the menu is absolutely delicious, but if you want to get a good deal and filling, you should come during lunchtime because there are always lunch specials. The lunch special varies each day, but the most common is a lunch combination that comes with salmon, salad, rice, California rolls, and Udon. There is everything from appealing appetizers, combination boxes, udon noodles, soup, and sashimi. Most dishes come with a bowl of miso soup and salad with a dressing of your personal choice. My personal favorite sauce is their special homemade miso dressing. You can also ask for a separate sashimi menu with a list of all different types of sashimi.
